ACTUATING SYSTEM

PURPOSE: An operating apparatus is provided to improve the performance of the system and operation speed, and to extend the life span by automatically actuating a gear or clutch in the power train unit of a vehicle with installing the system in the limit space. CONSTITUTION: An actuator operates an element of an automated clutch or an automated transmission in a vehicle. The actuator includes a housing(4) receiving a toothed rack(10) and a gear engaged with the toothed rack. An electric motor(3) is driven and connected with the gear for shifting the position of the toothed rack relative to the housing. The actuator is spring biased in the predetermined direction by a spring extending between a point on the toothed rack and a point on the housing. The electric motor and the gear are fastened to the housing as the preassembled unit.
