DATABASE OPERATION CHANCE DETECTING PROGRAM AND RECORDING MEDIUM FOR THE SAME PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide database operation chance detection technology which makes it possible to detect an accurate rearrangement chance for a database and a capacity expansion chance while reducing the influence on online operation as much as possible. SOLUTION: The number of areas which can be rearranged and the number of areas in an extension direction are calculated by estimating the data storage state in the database from record operation and used to perform processing so as to detect a chance to operate the database. Consequently, whether or not the database needs to be rearranged and whether the capacity needs to be expanded can be judged without executing a job for recognizing the storage state of data in the database, so the above judgments can be made without stopping the online operation. Then the judgments can objectively be made without depending upon a system administrator.
