PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide portable terminal equipment, with which an individual incoming sound registering function and a sounding function for incoming sounds can be utilized by more simplified operation. SOLUTION: This equipment has a DSP 4 for mutually analog/digital converting a prescribed sound signal, a ROM 1 storing prescribed chord data and a processing program, a RAM 2 for temporarily holding the data of the sound signal, an EEPROM 6 for storing and holding melody data as an incoming sound and a main control part (MCPU) 3 for controlling the operation of the relevant portable terminal equipment. Thus, the prescribed chord data are added to the prescribed sound signal on the basis of the program stored on the ROM 1, the melody data added with these chord data are recorded onto the EEPROM 6 and the original melody data can be prepared as an incoming sound. When the registered incoming sound is selected and sounded in the case of call incoming, identification from the incoming sound of the other person is facilitated.
