FUEL BATTERY SEPARATOR AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stainless steel separator for a fuel battery which is both low contact-resistant and high corrosion-resistant. SOLUTION: The substrate of the fuel battery separator is a stainless steel plate wherein a carbon layer is formed at a surface part contacting a gas diffusion electrode through a carbon diffusion layer while a passive coat is formed at a remaining surface part. The carbon diffusion layer and the carbon layer are formed by painting a carbon paint on the surface part of a stainless steel plate molded into a prescribed separator shape, which is heated to 600-1000 deg.C in a reducing gas atmosphere.
