PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for leakage detection capable of accurately detecting leakage from piping by the use of a gas by taking account of a pressure change of the gas caused by a change in temperature. SOLUTION: The piping is filled with the gas. Based on the temperature at a measurement time point and the temperature at a measurement starting time point, a correcting valueΔpa(t) for a pressure change at the measurement time point caused by only a change in temperature is found on the assumption that there is no leakage from the piping. Leakage from the piping is detected based on a corrected pressure p'a(t), which is found from a pressure pmea(t) in the piping at the measurement time point and from the correcting valueΔpa(t) for the pressure change at the measurement time point, and on a pressure pa(0) in the piping at the measurement starting time point. Because of this, whether there in leakage or not can be correctly detected even if a temperature change occurs during the measurement.
