PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve total efficiency of a machine by reducing an eddy current, generated at the external surface of a magnetic pole piece of a rotor of an electro-mechanical machine. SOLUTION: A rotor assembly of the electro-mechanical machine includes an iron rotor magnetic pole piece, the magnetic pole piece includes a plurality of claws, and each claw has the external surface around the external circumference of the rotor assembly. A recess is formed at the surface of each external surface, to form a plurality of closed surface regions. These closed surface regions restrict the flow of the eddy current to trap to be within a small surface region. Therefore, the loss of efficiency due to the eddy current is reduced.
