The information representation method has the information provided in a given format which can be altered via data processing, in dependence on supplied control information, with subsequent representation of the information in the altered format. The control information may be dependent on the situation of an automobile with a dashboard display for representation of optical information. An Independent claim for a device for representation of optical information is also included.
