Process for quality controlling a stud welding process comprises pre-storing a reference characteristic line (11); acquiring a stud welding parameter during the welding process and storing the characteristic line; and displaying the characteristic line compared with the reference line to judge the quality of the welding process. An Independent claim is also included for a quality control unit comprising a storage device (8) for filing the reference characteristic line, a capturing device (15, 16) for a stud welding parameter; and a display unit (7) for displaying the actual characteristic line compared to the reference characteristic line.
