The invention relates to a multiturn rotating encoder which comprises an input shaft (2) and a first code disk (3) for detecting the angular position of the input shaft (2) within a rotation. In order to determine the number of rotations of the input shaft (2), a multiturn part (5) is provided with other code disks actuated in a demultiplied manner in the form of magnetic bodies (10, 11, 12). Arranged between the first code disk (3) and the multiturn part (5) is a printed circuit board (4) with detection devices (8, 30) which scan the first code disk (3) and the magnetic bodies (10, 11, 12). The detection devices (8, 30) of the first code disk (3) and the magnetic bodies (10, 11, 12) are mounted on the same side (40) of the printed circuit board (4) which is arranged opposite the first code disk (3).
