<p>A system for monitoring the activity of an object (16) at a remote location, includes a consumer electronic appliance (12, 62) having a first input for receiving data indicative of a program and a second input for receiving data indicative of the activity of the object (16). An activity sensor (14, 64) placed at the remote location senses the activity of the object (16) and transmits data indicative of the activity to the second input of the consumer electronic appliance (12, 62). The consumer electronic appliance may include an activity detector (33) that measures the activity of the object in the object data. The activity detector (33) may automatically cause the consumer electronic appliance (12, 62) to present the activity of the object if the measured activity meets a predetermined activity threshold. The consumer electronic appliance (12, 62) may also enable the user to momentarily observe the activity of the object (16) or continuously monitor the activity of the object (16).</p> |
