Nanocomposite with reduced permeability, manufacturing method thereof and container therefrom

A plastic material (I) with reduced permeability, especially for containers for fluids, comprises a plastic matrix containing a mixture of: (A) a copolymer of unsaturated hydrocarbon(s) and unsaturated carboxylic acid(s) and/or acid derivative(s), in the form of an ammonium salt; and (B) a layer silicate in amounts of 0.5-10 (preferably 1-4.5) wt.%. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a method for the production of (I) by polymerizing unsaturated 10-100C hydrocarbon(s) with unsaturated acid(s) etc. as above, mixing the ammonium salt of the resulting polymer (A) with layer silicate(s) (B) and then incorporating the polymer-modified layer silicate into a plastic matrix; and (b) a plastic tank made of (I) for holding fluid media, especially hydrocarbon-containing fluids.
