PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quick gear change responsiveness by preventing a torque from being lost at the time of gear change and releasing an input clutch as required in a vehicle having an automatic transmission with a bypass clutch with a plurality of transmission gear trains. SOLUTION: A power transmission device for vehicle comprises an input shaft 3 and an output shaft 4. Driven gears 21 to 25 meshed with a plurality of drive gears 11 to 15 installed on the input shaft 3 are installed on the output shaft 4, and these gears form the transmission gear trains. The bypass clutch 18 is installed on the input shaft 3 to transmit a power through a bypass gear 17 on a drive side and a bypass gear 27 on a driven side at the time of gear change. A lock-up clutch 51 is installed in a torque converter 6 installed between a crank shaft 7 and the input shaft 3, and an input clutch 53 is installed between a turbine shaft 46 and the input shaft 3.
