Selective distant control systems.-Relates to a system for selectively positioning a shaft e.g. a condenser shaft, from a distance. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the shaft of a condenser 6 is driven through gearing 3, 4 by a shaft 2 which is driven by an induction motor 1 of the rotating disc type. The shaft 2 carries discs 14 each of which has a notch 15 adapted to co-operate with detents 16 on the armatures 17 of solenoids 18, series of which are disposed around the peripheries of the discs. The solenoids are adjustably mounted relatively to the peripheries of the discs by brackets 22 on frames 19 which are supported on brackets 20. To adjust the condenser into a predetermined position the appropriate solenoid 18 is energized to attract, against spring control, its armature 17 and bring the detent 16 into contact with the edge of the associated disc 14 upon which it rides until the notch 15 registers with the detent to stop further rotation. The disc 14 adjacent the motor 1 carries projections which co-operate with an arm 11 of a reversing switch 9 to effect reversal of the motor when the limit of rotation of the shaft 2 in one or other direction is reached. The electromagnets 18 are connected in independent circuits to control push button switches and a further switch may be provided for controlling the motor. Any suitable number of discs 14 and associated electromagnets may be provided.</p> |
