PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing xanthosine-5'-monophosphate in high yield. SOLUTION: The xanthosine-5'-monophosphate is produced by culturing a bacterium characterized in that the bacterium is a mutant of a coryneorm bacterium having the ability to produce the xanthosine-5'-monophosphate and is resistant to a biosynthesis inhibitor and/or a functional inhibitor of a cell membrane, a phosphorylation inhibitor, an uncoupler, an RNA polymerase inhibitor or growth inhibition with a methionine analogue in a nutrient culture medium.
