A tablet or sweet dispenser comprises a hollow cylindrical body portion (10) having a body aperture (14), a hollow cylindrical sleeve (18) with a door aperture (20) slidably received within the body portion (10), and an end cap (26). A cam slot (16) is formed in the wall of the cylindrical body portion (10), which extends at an angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the body portion. A button or cam follower (22) of the sleeve (18) is guided by the cam slot (16). The button (22) can be manipulated between a pair of limiting positions, the first of which is a non-dispensing position and the second of which is a dispensing position in which the door aperture (20) is aligned with the body aperture (14), and means (24) biasing the sleeve (18) towards its non-dispensing position.
