The invention relates to a method for the flotation of water for purifying the water from components. The inventive method is characterized by introducing, by means of a flotation device, a pressurized gas in the water to be purified. The hydrophobic components bind to the hydrophilic gas bubbles formed by the gas dispersed in the water and are transported to the water surface and removed as foam. The introduction of pure nitrogen in the water to be purified eliminates the need for external energy and permits the purification of water at low costs. By introducing the gas by means of a pipe the water to be purified is not polluted by contaminants such as oil.
