PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide both a digging apparatus with which a hole can be made in the soil without damaging roots of a tree in the soil and by an easy operation without becoming dirty and a method therefor. SOLUTION: Water is jetting from a water jetting nozzle (2) projecting toward the ground and the nozzle (2) is properly raised and dropped to make a hole (6) in a fixed depth.
