PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To advantageously produce highly pure (meth)acrylic anhydride without causing its polymerization, and to produce highly pure (meth)acrylate in a high yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing the (meth)acrylic anhydride, comprises reacting (meth)acrylic acid with a fatty acid anhydride and then neutralizing and washing the reaction solution with an alkali aqueous solution of pH 7. 5 to 13. 5. The method for producing the (meth)acrylate, comprising reacting the (meth)acrylic anhydride with a secondary or tertiary alcohol in the coexistence of a basic compound having an acidity (pKa) of <=11 in 25 deg.C water.
