PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handleable packaging container with a reduction in bulk during shipment and being automatically and easily assembled as the container (box) by raising up both the side plates of the container in use. SOLUTION: This packaging container is provided with a folded piece 26 (36) which has a coupling flap 25 (35), whereto an oblique inwardly folding line elongated from the corner of a bottom plate 21 or a cover plate 31 to an open side is annexed so that both side plates 22 (32) can be partially locked to the inner surface of a side plate 23 (33) of an adjacent assembly part, and is connected continuously to at least one side plate 23 (33) via a folding line in a direction orthogonal to both the side plates 22 (32). The folded piece 26 (36) is folded inward so both the sides of the folded piece 26 (36) can cover the upper side of the coupling flaps 25 (35) connected continuously to the ends of both the side plates 22 (32) under a state of being folded and fixed to the inner surface of the side plate corresponding to only a central section. The edge, taken as a fixed side, of the coupling flap 25 (35) is pinched by the folded part of the folded piece 26 (36). When both the side plates 22 (32) are raised up during assembly, the movable sections of the coupling flaps 25 (35) are pulled into both the ends of the folded piece 26 (36) in order to make the side plates 22 (32) stand for fixation.
