PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrying direction reversing device in an image formation device reducing the power consumption by optimizing a torque margin by changing over a motor phase exciting current to be fed to a stepping motor. SOLUTION: A printing medium detecting means, which is installed to detect the timing of reversing the carrying direction by the carrying direction reversing means 30 by recognizing the rear end of a printing medium carried on a first passage to the carrying direction reversing means 30 in the upstream of a carrying direction reversing means 30, is so installed as to detect the printing medium carried from the carrying direction reversing means 30 in the downstream of the carrying direction reversing means.
