PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of assembling a belt for a continuously variable transmission, allowing easy determination of the shortage of the number of laminated elements and the production of the high quality continuously variable transmission belt. SOLUTION: The method comprises a laminating step 12 of circularly laminating the plurality of elements 2 and ring inserting steps 13, 18 of binding the laminated element 2 with endless metal rings 3, 4. The ring inserting step 13 comprises a weight measuring step 16 of measuring the weight of the elements 2 in the laminated condition, bound with the metal ring 3, and a number determining step 17 for determining the number of the laminated elements 2 from the weight measured in the weight measuring step 16.
