PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dense, mechanically strong, corrosion resistant and oxidation resistant compound sintered compact made of zirconium diboride which can be used as a heating element, an electrode, a corrosion resistant material or the like. SOLUTION: The compound sintered compact characteristically contains zirconium diboride of 55-94.5 percent by mass, zirconia of 5-40 percent by mass and silicon carbide of 0.5-5 percent by mass. The zirconia preferably contains a monocrystal of ZrO2 crystal or fused zirconia particles. |
