METHOD FOR REDUCING IMAGE NOISE

PURPOSE: A method for reducing image noise is provided to reduce noise of image formed regions and textures. CONSTITUTION: The method for reducing noise in images formed from uniform regions and of textures delimited by contours. Method comprises a step for filtering images, a step for detection of the contours and textures in the images and a sub-step of reallocation or not of each image pixel to a contour or a texture according to the result of a connectivity test. The sub-step takes place after the contour and texture detection step and a step for selection or elimination of pixels for application of the filtering in that they belong or not to a contour or texture. An Independent claim is made for a corresponding image processing system.
