The invention concerns a method for separating two fluids stored in a tank by interposition of a membrane between the two fluids. The invention is characterised in that it comprises the following steps which consist in: making a stable emulsion from at least two immiscible liquids; placing said emulsion at the interface between the two fluids so as to constitute said membrane. The invention also concerns a tank comprising a separating membrane.
