APPARATUS FOR ESTIMATING TRAFFIC IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION MULTI-SECTOR ANTENNA SYSTEM

PURPOSE: An apparatus for estimating traffic in a mobile communication multi-sector antenna system is provided to achieve a high-performance traffic estimation technique by simultaneously receiving the power received through a plurality of antenna beams using the reverse power supplied to a multiple beam or a multiple sector. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for estimating traffic in a mobile communication multi-sector antenna system comprises N numbers of array antennas(100), a power sampler module(102), an N:1 switch module(104), a filter and amplifier module(106), a power detector module(108), and a system control and power value control module(110). The power sampler module(102) samples the power of a multiple beam received through 4 or 8 array antennas per each sector. The N:1 switch module(104) switches N numbers of received powers sampled by the power sampler module(102) at regular time intervals and processes them sequentially. The filter and amplifier module(106) converts the sequentially processed received powers into necessary band signals. The power detector module(108) converts the converted received powers into linear voltage values. The system control and power value control module(110) calculates the average power value of the powers received through the 4 or 8 array antennas(100) using the linear voltage values and computes the difference values between the calculated multiple beam average power values. Based on the computed difference values, the system control and power value control module(110) estimates inter-beam traffic.
