PURPOSE: An AC plasma display panel for a back light of a liquid crystal display is provided to protect a plasma display panel from Hg contamination and to acquire high luminance. CONSTITUTION: An AC plasma display panel for a back light of a liquid crystal display includes upper and lower substrates(14,12) facing each other having a predetermined distance between them, and a sealant(15) sealing up the edges of the substrates. The display panel further includes a pair of discharge electrodes(13) placed between the upper and lower substrates and a spacer(16). The discharge electrodes have a plurality of holes(H) and are arranged having a predetermined distance between them. The discharge electrodes do not come into contact with the substrates. The spacer is interposed between the lower substrate and the discharge electrodes and between the upper substrate and the discharge electrodes to maintain the distance between them.
