The invention relates to a test method for detecting film-forming polymers having favorable properties. The inventive method comprises the following steps: producing one or more sets of polymer solutions or solutions of polymer film-forming components of differing compositions; feeding a predetermined amount of polymer solution or solution of polymer film forming components into a set of test containers; forming a polymer film, optionally exposing the polymer film to a high temperature; determining one or more physical properties in a sequential or parallel manner and selecting the polymer samples having the most favorable properties. Preferably, the relative degree of cross-linking of the polymer film is determined by adding a fluorescent dye to the polymer solution, eluting the dye with an organic solvent once the polymer film has been formed, and measuring the concentration of dye in the solution.
