<p>A printer comprising a line thermal head, a platen roller for feeding a sheet while clamping it between the line thermal head and the platen roller, a cutter having a movable blade and a fixed blade for cutting a printed sheet, and a cutter drive mechanism for driving the movable blade. At least one of the line thermal head and the platen roller can move from a first printing position to a second unjamming position. Any one of the movable blade and the fixed blade is fixed directly or indirectly to the line thermal head or the platen roller so that any one or both of the movable blade and the fixed blade moves together when any one of the line thermal head and the platen roller is moved from the first position to the second position. A compact printer employing a roll sheet and incorporating a cutter function in which sheet jam can be eliminated easily can thereby be obtained.</p> |
