A centering device for material (76,78) conveyed on conveyor systems comprises pusher elements (48,50) disposed on both sides of the conveyor system such that they can be moved to and fro in the direction of the center line of the conveyor system. The pusher elements (48,50) each comprise at least two stoppers (48,50) which can be moved along parallel guide components (22,24) oriented towards center line (18), said stoppers being connected with one and the same endless traction element (30) such that they are driven in the same direction, with said traction element being threaded to and fro around guide components (22,24).
