The invention relates to an airbag module for an automobile steering wheel, comprising an airbag which can be inflated by means of an inflation device, a cover behind which the airbag is situated and a pivotably mounted flap which forms a part of the cover and which is pivoted in such a way when the airbag is inflated as to uncover an opening through which the airbag can exit the airbag module. The invention also provides that the pivot pin (A) of the flap (3) is situated behind the cover (2) and at a distance from the flap (3).
