Imitation wood (1) comprises fired clay having communicating pore chambers (2, 3) for receiving a combustible fuel. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of an imitation wood comprising producing a mold by deforming a firewood, filling with a clay composition, removing the mold, drying and firing the green body formed, and applying a glaze mixed with combustible fuels. Preferred Features: The fired clay has macropores formed by firing the combustible fuels added to the clay. The combustible fuels are selected from sawdust, paper shreds and polystyrene.
