Construction kit used for constructing lock cylinders comprises a traverse (3) having an essentially rectangular profile inserted in an upright manner in a correspondingly shaped housing recess (4) open at the bottom and running parallel to the longitudinal extension in the web region (5) of the locking units (1), the non-locking unit, and the optional extension unit (2), and connected in a form-locking manner to these by transverse pins (7) driven in bores (6) in the traverse, the locking units, the non-locking unit and the extension unit. Preferred Features: The housing recess in the locking unit extends only over a part of the longitudinal extension of the cylinder housing and ends a distance in front of the outer-lying end (10).
