Data can be transferred according to the hardware handshaking method. A data transmission unit initially transmits a request to a data-receiving unit. The receiving unit responds to the received request with an acknowledgement if it is ready to receive said information, or it responds with a busy message if it is not ready to do so. The method is also known as a request-acknowledge handshaking method. In the invention, hardware handshaking is disclosed whereby request information contains information on the type of data which is to be transmitted, enabling data to be selectively transmitted. |
