PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately calibrate color reproduction of a secondary color and a tertiary color of a coloring material color used in a color output device. SOLUTION: When a table for converting an input color component signal into a color component signal corresponding to a coloring material color used in a color output device is calibrated, patches corresponding to the primary, secondary and tertiary colors of the coloring material color are outputted by the color output device. According to patch measurement data obtained by measuring the outputted patches, a hierarchy correction table corresponding to the primary, secondary and tertiary colors of the coloring material color is calibrated. According to the hierarchy correction table, a plurality of first lines from white to the primary color and the secondary color in a three-dimensional color structure expressed by a plurality of color components comprising the input color component signal are specified. According to the hierarchy correction table, a plurality of second lines from the primary color and the secondary color to black in the three-dimensional color structure are specified. According to the hierarchy correction table, a third line from white to black in the tree-dimensional color structure is specified. The table for the conversion is produced according to the first, second and third lines.
