SOLUTION: When the electronic document is supplied from the outside, a mask processing range deciding part 1 judges the type of the electronic document to decide a mask processing range corresponding to the type. A masking place extraction part 20 of a mask processing part 2 extracts proper nouns within the mask processing range of the electronic document by referring to a proper noun dictionary part 22 and integrates the extracted proper nouns in accordance with an integration rule stored in an integration rule storage part 23 to make them confidential. The part 20 extracts a confidential part except for the proper nouns by referring to an extraction rule storage part 24. An replacement processing part 21 replaces characters in the extracted confidential part with prescribed characters. When mask processing is finished, an output part 3 outputs the mask-processed electronic document.
