PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator superior in mechanical performance, separability and various performances such as flexibility or the like, and used for a battery or capacitor having a high production efficiency. SOLUTION: This is the separator used for the battery or the capacitor and comprised that it is using a nonwoven fabric, and 30 wt.% or more of the nonwoven fabric is constituted by flat plate-formed fibers with the flatness of 2-30 and thickness of 0.1 to 30μm.
