PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a user from being puzzled even in the case a recording medium is not reproduced at all due to skip tracks and to prevent a progressing operation from being meaninglessly interrupted in the case that a reproducing instruction is given. SOLUTION: When a recording medium where reproduction permission/ inhibition information indicating whether or not reproduction which can be set for every recording area of a prescribed unit is additionally recorded is reproduced, a prescribed information is outputted (steps 42, 46, and 52) if information indicating that reproduction is not permitted has been set to a recording area which is taken as the object of reproduction by a prescribed reproducing indication. If information indicating that reproducing is not permitted has been set to all recording areas taken as the object of reproduction, the operation state related to present reproduction is kept (steps 38, 42, 44, 46, 48, 52).
