PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate labor of making inventory control on a rental store side by enabling a customer requesting a rental to be able to retrieve information on the stock of video tapes, CDs and books without the customer having to visit the rental store, and at the same time enable reserving of the rental of a commodity beforehand. SOLUTION: In this rental commodity reserving system, a customer, requesting the rental of a rental commodity, confirms inventory of the commodity and books the rental item to a rental store 1, by using a rental customer device 11 having a display part and an operating part via a telephone line 12. The rental store 1 comprises a transceiver part 2 for exchanging data, a data control part 4, a control device 3 for controlling these parts, and a store commodity display 8 having a rental commodity sample 9 and an inventory quantity indication part 10. The data control part 4 comprises a customer data part 5 for controlling customer information, such as addresses, names, and telephone numbers, an inventory control part 6 for controlling the commodity information such as commodity name, commodity quantity, and inventory quantity, and a book control part 7 for controlling the reserving of the rental commodities. The customer requesting the rental can browse the rental commodities and confirm the inventory quantity. |
