PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gamma correction circuit capable of obtaining desired gamma characteristics in a simple constitution. SOLUTION: This gamma correction circuit is provided with a gamma correction data group generating part 1 in which first and second gamma correction data are stored, and to which first and second gains K1 and K2 are inputted for generating first and second data Xγ1 and Xγ2, by correcting an input signal X by using the first and second gamma correction data and the first and second gains K1 and K2; a gamma characteristic controller 4 for inputting the first and second gains K1 and K2 to the gamma correction data group generating part 1; an input signal level judger 2 for outputting a judgment signal S based on the level of the input signal X, the first and second gamma correction data, and the first and second gains K1 and K2; and a gamma correction output switcher 3 for selecting and outputting either the first or second data Xγ1 or Xγ2 as a gamma correction signal XOUT based on the judgment signal S.
