PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for adjusting an optical pickup by which a tilt angle adjustment and a focus adjustment are performed in accordance with an optical recording medium and an operational environment such as a change of temperature and a change with time. SOLUTION: The tilt angle and focus position of the optical pickup are adjusted to be at an angle which maximizes the rate of change of an edge waveform of an RF signal which is obtained from a pit and land pattern consisting of a pit 2 and a land having a prescribed length longer than the spot diameter of a beam spot 1 formed by laser beams on an optical disk which is rotationally driven at a constant linear velocity.
