PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium playback device which can detect an exact and stable BPM(Beat Per Minute) value even in the case that beat sounds of music are not detected. SOLUTION: The recording medium playback device is provided with a start/end point setting means which sets the start point and the end point of playback of a recording medium, a beat detection means which detects beat sounds of music reproduced in a section from the start point to the end point of the recording medium, a beat calculation means which calculates the number of beats per unit time in accordance with the number of beats of beat sounds detected by the beat detection means and the playback time from the start point to the end point, and a beat display means which displays the number of beats per unit time which is calculated by the beat calculation means. Hence, the exact and stable number of beats per unit time is obtained regardless of the existence of a part, where beat sounds of music are not detected, because the start point and the end point are so set that this part may not included in the section from the start point to the end point. |
