The linear position member consists of a first and second air cylinder mechanisms (4A, 4B) with a pair of cylinder bores that are arranged parallel to one another in a housing (1). There are also pistons (21A, 21B) that slide in their respective cylinder bores as well as end coverings (24A, 24B, 25A, 25B) through which the end sections of the respective cylinder bores are locked. There are pressure chambers (26a, 26b) that are built between the end coverings and their respective pistons. There are connection openings (27a, 27b) to connect the pressure chambers and are associated with the pair of cylinder bores. There is a pair of joints (30a, 30b) that are common to both air cylinder mechanisms and supply pressurised air to the respective pressure chambers. There is an air dampening mechanism (5a, 5b) to adhere the respective pistons to both air cylinder mechanisms at the front and/or rear hub end in a suppressed manner. There is an outlet opening (34) to channel disc harged air from the pressure chambers, whilst there is a seal (43) adapted to the outer circumferential are of the pistons. And which separates a joint opening (30c) from the pressure chambers.
