The architecture has a modality for detecting examination images. Each modality has a workplace (16) for acquiring and/or post-processing data and/or examination images. Devices are also provided for transmitting and storing data and the images. Further workplaces are used for post-processing the data and images. At least of the workplaces has a call system (18) for transmitting messages, e.g. using a text display, audio files, an instant messaging service, java applet, or mobile telephone.
