The shaft bearing element has a number of narrow grooves (10) formed on the inner circumferential face (5) in such a way that they extend at a predetermined angle with regard to the rotational direction of the shaft from at least one of the sides of an oil groove (6) in a direction towards an axial end side of the inner circumferential face. The narrow grooves direct lubricating oil from the oil groove out towards the axial end side during rotational movement of the shaft. The narrow grooves are flatter and narrower than the oil groove.
