The hair clip for retaining curls of hair has two opposing sets of curved teeth (8, 9). each set has a connecting strip (10, 11) across its top. Handles (12, 13) attached to the tops of these are squeezed to open the clip by pressing on a spring between them. The handles are mounted asymmetrically on the arms of the spring. An Independent claim is included for a method for holding curls of hair using the clip.
