PURPOSE: An evaporator is provided to easily assemble each of heat transfer fins and to minimize interception of an air passage by ice formed on the heat transfer fins. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of heat transfer fins(13) are joined to a heat transfer pipe(12), forming a passage of refrigerant, to expand area for heat transfer of the heat transfer pipe. The heat transfer fins are arranged so that lower ends thereof are at heights different from the heights of the lower ends of the neighboring heat transfer fins in respect with direction of gravity. Even when ice masses(I) are formed on the lower ends of the heat transfer fins, the ice masses keep separate from the ice masses(I') formed on the neighboring heat transfer fins for air to smoothly flow thereby.
