PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holder which improves the durability of a polar plate by adhering protective sheets covering a weld zone to the polar plate, thereby enhancing the joint strength of a hanger board and the polar plate, preventing the partial slenderization of the polar plate and enhancing the adhesiveness, water- and acid resistance and strength of the protective sheets. SOLUTION: The protective sheet 20 or 30 is adhered to the weld zone 12 or near the same of the holder for the polar plate for electrolytic refining constituted by drooping the hanger board 10 at a holding member 3a and connecting the top end edge of the polar plate 11 by the weld zone 12 to the bottom end edge of the hanger board. The protective sheet 20 is a denatured polyolefin prepared by copolymerizing a polyolefin and unsaturated carboxylic acid and the protective sheet 30 consists of a double-layered structure composed of the denatured polyolefin (protective sheet) 20' and a polyolefin resin forming an outer skin sheet layer 21.
