SOLUTION: The natural-lighting back light 30 assembled in the liquid crystal device 10 has a light guide plate 33 made of a light-transmitting material containing a dichroic phosphor, a light source 31 such as a cold cathode tube, and a natural lighting part 32 to introduce external light. The dichroic phosphor can be excited by light at <=400 nm wavelength to emit light at wavelength longer than that of the excitation light and has light-transmitting property for light in the visible region at longer wavelength than 400 nm.
