PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solidification container having a lid that can be directly welded to the head of the container through a single welding pass. SOLUTION: The solidification container is equipped with a container head 4 provided with a flange 3 on the outer peripheral edge of the upper end of a short, cylindrical inflow pipe 2 leading to the shell of the container, and a lid 5 which abuts against the upper end face of the inflow pipe 2 and inscribes to the flange 3. The sulfur content of stainless steel constituting both the container head 4 and the lid 5 is set to range between 0.005 wt.% and 0.015 wt.% so as to assure the melting depth of a weld joint 6 formed by welding the container head 4 and the lid 5 together.
