PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance print performance while reducing the cost and size by performing correction control such that the print density of a thermal head becomes constant in order to deal with a significant voltage drop dependent on the degree of consumption of a battery thereby performing print operation with a sufficiently stabilized image quality. SOLUTION: A CPU 81 detects a voltage at a specified timing (5-10 msec) immediately after power is supplied from a battery 8 to a load, i.e., a thermal head 20, at the timing immediately before a recording sheet is printed with each color of ink of an ink ribbon and takes in the detection results as an acquisition voltage value for voltage correction. In the voltage correction processing, print density of ink in the thermal head 20 is corrected to be constant regardless of the magnitude of supply voltage from the battery 8 in correspondence with the acquisition voltage value for voltage correction.
